Free Meals for All Kids Starting November 1, 2020
Sulphur Bluff ISD is proud to announce that we will be offering free breakfast and lunch to all SBISD students (and kids in the community) from November 1, 2020 through May 21, 2021. Any child in the community under the age of 18 is eligible to receive no-cost meals for the remainder of the school year. This will help ensure, no matter what the situation, that our children have access to nutritious food during this uncertain time.
School lunch debts that were accrued before November 1st would still need to be paid before the end of the year and money can still be added to school accounts for a la carte items, ice cream, and additional servings. At-home participants are asked to coordinate pickup times with Amanda Cockrell – 903-945-9310.
Thank you to our Food Service Staff for putting this together for our kids!
Thanks and Go Bears!
Additional information regarding SFSP and SSO, the programs that allow us to provide no-cost meals here at Sulphur Bluff can be found below.
The USDA and Texas Department of Agriculture worked together to extend flexibility waivers that allow us to offer free meals to all children 18 and under.
“As our nation reopens and people return to work, it remains critical our children continue to receive safe, healthy, and nutritious food.,” said U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Sonny Perdue. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, USDA has provided flexibilities to help schools feed kids through the school meal programs, and we are also extending summer meal program flexibilities for as long as we can, legally and financially.”
